Threshing Pine
Threshing floor is one of our most unique and popular products. Pine threshing floors are the most rustic of our reclaimed wood. Traditionally, farmers used this product to thresh grains (the act of separating out grain by the feet of people or oxen), which required a heavy and rugged floor. This product had to be tough enough to hold up to many years of constant traffic from wagons, feet, and hooves. You may notice the white color on one side of the board. This is the original lime-wash coat used to protect the animals and crops from bugs and other bacteria. What makes this product so unique is that threshing floors represent years of hard work. The character of the wooden boards slowly evolved over time to showing the individual barn’s story.

Brown Barn Board
Our reclaimed brown wood has a unique patina. This patina is formed by the aging process when barn wood is in the barn, yet not directly exposed to the elements. We source these boards from barns and buildings across the Midwest. Typically, these boards were used in original structures that far surpass 100 years. The hues of this product range from tan to dark brown. The weathered tones of this product are unable to be replicated with newer products and materials.

Red Barn Board
Long ago, farmers painted their barns with a mixture made from linseed oil, rust, and lime, which dried to a deep red color. As paint became more widely available, red became the barn color of choice as a fashionable homage to the past. In contrast to our brown board, this product has the original red paint from the historical structures. Because this wood was exposed to natural elements, red board has a very unique character that preserves and reflects the history and age of each individual barn or structure.

Urban Cut Hardwood
Across the states, numerous trees have fallen to the earth over the past 100 years. More often than not, these trees fall into a cycle of burning as cities and communities expand onto new land. At Beam and Board we save these trees and instead turn them into something beautiful and reusable. These old historical trees then get milled into boards that are perfect for furniture or flooring as they still have the natural aged look of reclaimed wood. We call this product Urban Cut resawn wood.
